I'm no Economist, although I can make our money go a long way. I operate the micro version of the global economy. I know that finance is finite, you can't spend the same pot of money twice, there are always peaks and troughs, and sooner or later there will be a crash. Politicians and global leaders seem not to know this.
Anyone with an ounce of common sense and financial nous could tell you that an economy can't grow indefinitely. It also can't survive constant price increases that are not in line with income. If the economy doesn't crash first, the people will revolt.
None of what happens in the financial world appears to make sense.
We have too much. People want more and more but don't necessarily have the means to pay for it. We spend a lot of our lives being brainwashed by TV about the next great thing we need. The concept of Enough has been lost.
Whether it's age-related or simply an awakening to the possibility of a different way of life, I think it's time for change.
I thought my philosophy was unique to me until I came across John Fullerton's book Regenerative Economics. I've just started reading it but already it's on my wavelength. How can we make the financial world sustainable, instead of heading face first into the abyss?
It's time to implement Ron Garan's Planet, Society, Economy principles. To put people before economics. To make sure that everyone who wants one has a roof over their head, food on the table, and access to care for their wellbeing.
Without a circuit breaker, we are simply heading for a crisis that will only end when we return to a simpler way of life - one that is either forced upon us or we choose.
We need more people to think for themselves instead of blindly trudging into the future.
