We find it difficult to live our best lives. We are weighed down with the soul-crushing realities of existence — work, bills, the news, wars, threats of what's to come, the economy. The list is endless.
Some people never escape this cycle. It weighs them down for life. Others manage to create some distance. And yet others completely detach themselves from this way of being.
Sometimes we're so busy just getting through the day, paying the bills, feeding the children, that we never find ourselves. We never give any consideration to why we're here or what this is all about. We can't conceive that there could possibly be more to life than this.
A Different Way
This is where the Essentialist Movement comes in.
We are not here just to keep paying bills — we're not here for that at all (but that's another story altogether). We are here to know ourselves, to understand and experience the truth of who we are, to live that truth and, in so doing, make the world a better place.
The world needs people who live like that. They become beacons for everyone else — proof that another way is possible.
We are not here to just bring out the best china at Christmas and other celebrations. We are here to use the best china every day. We are not here to postpone our life but to live it, fully and deliciously. To fully and completely enjoy it.
The Greatest Rebellion
But we get so beaten down by the life we end up living that we can't conceive that there must be another way. We accept the weight as inevitable, the struggle as necessary, the postponement as prudent.
The greatest rebellion is to live our best life, to know our truth and to live it.
Not to wait for permission. Not to wait for retirement. Not to wait for when the children are grown, or the mortgage is paid, or the perfect moment arrives.
Now. Today. With the best china.
This is the essence of the Essentialist Movement — the radical act of choosing to live authentically, of refusing to accept that survival equals life, of remembering that we are here for something more.
Each person who remembers becomes a light. Each person who lives their truth creates a path for others to follow. Each person who refuses to postpone their life shifts what is possible for all of us.
